VIRGINIA BEACH — Despite a tumultuous year, more women are moving up the ranks in leadership positions in the area, according to Rhonda Bridgeman, chair of the Hampton Roads Chamber regional board.

Other local woman who prove her point were featured at the The Power of Women, a Chamber event held at the Marriott Virginia Beach Oceanfront on Oct. 2.

After Bridgeman opened the proceedings, Delceno Miles, president and chief executive officer of The Miles Agency, led a panel discussion. Miles offered some fun facts about her three panelists: They have a combined 49½ years of marriage, eight children and more than 52 years of business experience.

Christen Faatz, senior vice president, corporate finance and accounting, at The Franklin Johnston Group; Georgie Marquez, founder of Andre + Marquez Architects; and Capt. Michele Naughton of the Norfolk Police Department had plenty of words of advice and wisdom to share.
